Hank,

Thank you for taking the time to comment. The article you are referring to was not written by me and is not my opinion. It was a news article about Henry McMaster, a Patterson Alumnus, who is also the South Carolina Attorney General. Thus, it was posted to the Alumni News category. The article was sent to me along with a request to post it to the Alumni News category. Had Henry McMaster been a democrat challenging a republican health care plan, it would still have been posted simply because it is news about an alumnus.

A couple of other things I would like to respectively point out:

You commented about "teaparty catchphrases such as 'Obamacare' " but just prior to that statement you commented about , "Faux 'News'", a catchphrase used by democrats to slam a conservative news source. It seems catchphrases belong to both political parties.

You accuse me of expressing my own opinion in the article. Had this been an opinion piece written by me it would have been posted in the Editorial section of the blog.

You state, "your problem is with Democrats in our government, not our government". I am a conservative and have always leaned to the republican party but your statement could not be farther from the truth. Again, I did not write the article.

I do in fact advocate the ouster of all democrat and republican career politicians. In fact, I lead a group on Facebook called Political Sensibility dedicated to that very purpose. The group is open to anyone, democrat or republican and you are welcome to join us in our goal of overhauling our entire political system. Our desire is to stop the fighting between parties, find common ground, and work together.

This article is the same technique used by Faux "News" to twist and spin nothing into something. Maybe you have a point, but such propaganda is untrustworthy. If you can debate the Obama healthcare plan confidently, DO IT! Someone with a real point doesn't need teaparty catchphrases such as "Obamacare". Why is this even here? I came here to check out my old school. I certianly have issues with health care reform, but I am far more afraid of nothing being done. Where is the article thrashing the GOP for condoning a roadblock of any reform while the US spends over double what any other country spends on health care while we rank in the high 30's in effectiveness? Where were you with all this patriotism between the years 2000 and 2008? Did nothing go wrong then? It seems your problem is with Democrats in our government, not our government. Do not speak for all Patterson Alumnus. You do NOT represent me, Mr. Kelly. There are those in this country who need to stop thinking they have a copyright on the attitudes of "Real Americans", whatever that means...
I suppose I could post a far-left article from Air America to respond in kind on here, but who really cares? Not even me! Don't even listen. I take no pride in speaking the words of others. I applaud you for caring and will defend your right to your opinion vigorously, but there are 300+ million opinions here. Each one is as important as the other. That is my vision of America- one vision among 300 million. This country needs a political overhaul. Articles such as this are the problem, not the solution...

Some people have interpreted this article to mean that I have given up hope of Patterson School ever reopening. Nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, to the contrary, if anything, I have redoubled my efforts to preserve the school we all know and love.

This does not mean that I do not believe the entity currently known as Patterson School, Inc faces insurmountable problems. It definitely does. However, I have not given up all hope for that entity. I still explore possible solutions to the problem. I am just less confidant of saving that entity than I am of resurrecting the school as another entity with a similar name.

There are many dedicated people trying to preserve the school, from the Board of Trustees, to the Alumni Association, to various friends & alumni, to less well placed but more publicly outspoken individuals like myself. There are currently no efforts by any of these people that are being frowned upon. All options are on the table at this point. If a likely option rises to the top, then all concerned will have an opportunity to comment as I will provide the means for everyone to do so on the blog.

Patterson will live on, in one form or another!
