Jerry Fowler was the son of Alvin Fowler, a former science teacher at the Patterson School. Jerry was a student at the school.
Jerry W. Fowler, age 54, of Bristol Creek Avenue, Morganton, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Grace Hospital. He was born December 20, 1954 in Caldwell County to the late Alvin C. and Zelma Swanson Fowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Diana T. Haigler and Becky T. Harless.
Mr. Fowler was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church. Jerry lived most of his life in the Lower Creek area of Lenoir. He attended Lower Creek Elementary and Patterson school. All of his adult life he was confined to a wheel chair due to a car accident in 1976. Although he had many disabilities that prevented him from having a normal life, he accepted his circumstances and always had a big smile when he had friends and family visit. In the years following his accident he spent many hours reading his Bible and developed a strong faith. We know he is now in the presence of the Lord and all of his family that preceded him.
Survivors include three nephews and three nieces, Chuck Harless (wife) Lori Harless (children) Jordan and Ryan Harless of Charlotte, Lisa H. Femrite of Charlotte (children) Brooke Bostwick of Charlotte and Shea Bostwick of Wilmington, Chad Harless (wife) Nicole Harless of Yatesville, GA (child) Sadie Harless of Gastonia, Ron Haigler (wife) Beth Haigler (children) William, Harrison, Merrick and Lawson Haigler of Alpharetta, GA, Laura Haigler and Charlotte Ann Haigler, both of Atlanta, GA; and uncle Paul Swanson of Lenoir.
