Inevitably we all will face situations in our lives that change us forever. How we respond to those situations says much about our character. Do we overcome the challenge and use it as an opportunity to better ourselves and others, or do we wallow in self pity and remorse? Time does indeed heal all wounds but how we treat that wound determines whether it leaves a nasty scar in our soul or renews our spirit, making it fresh and clean.

My own life was irrevocably changed in 2004. Although it took 5 years to finally heal the wound, my faith in God and my desire to serve his will renewed my spirit and gave me a new purpose and a new passion that I have now dedicated the rest of my life to. I would like to share my testimony with you, in the hope that it might inspire you to overcome your own challenges. This testimony was delivered to the alumni of The Patterson School during Reunion Weekend at a prayer meeting held in the school’s chapel on August 8, 2009.
